Learning Forward Texas Announces the Appointment of Two New Board Members

Roanoke, Texas: April 9, 2021
Today, Learning Forward Texas is pleased to announce the appointment of two experienced educators to its board of directors. The new members are Gaya Jefferson from the Richardson ISD and Valerie Minor from Keller ISD.
Gaya Jefferson is Executive Director of Professional Learning in Richardson ISD. She brings fourteen years experience in public education as a teacher, instructional coach, Assistant Principal, and Professional Learning Coordinator. Gaya said, “I can’t imagine a more exciting time to link virtual elbows with servant leaders on the Learning Forward Board and Learning Forward colleagues around the world as we strive to equip student learners for their careers tomorrow.”
Valerie Minor is Professional Development and Mentoring Coordinator in Keller ISD. She has 13 years experience in public education as a teacher, department chair and Avid Staff Developer. Valerie is also a member of the Learning Forward Academy Class of 2021. “I am beyond thrilled,” said Valerie, “to work with this amazing group of educators and help lead this organization. I can’t wait to continue to build on the exceptional work in professional learning that LFTX is known for!”
Both Gaya and Valerie are active members of Learning Forward North Texas regional affiliate. In addition, they have both worked on teams who received the Learning Forward Texas Outstanding Professional Learning Award. Gaya was honored in her previous district, Arlington ISD, in 2018 and Valerie received the award this year in Keller ISD.
