2021 Outstanding Professional Learning Award Winners Announced

Two school districts recognized for their work in professional learning


Roanoke, TX:  On January 4, 2021, Learning Forward Texas named Keller ISD and the Klein ISD Professional Learning Team winners of the 2021 Outstanding Professional Learning Award.  The annual award recognizes exemplary districts, teams or campuses that utilize high-quality, results-driven professional learning designed to impact student achievement. 


“This year many districts have had to rethink their professional learning plans. The teams  from both Keller and Klein embraced the challenges presented by the pandemic and created innovative programs for meeting the needs of their teachers and students,” says Lisa Ham, Executive Director of Learning Forward Texas. 


Monica Shallenberger, Officer of Professional Learning for Klein ISD and Valerie Minor, Coordinator of Professional Development and Mentoring for Keller ISD were contacted about the award. Both were excited to share the news of the award with their respective teams and school districts.    


The Outstanding Professional Learning Award is selected annually by the Learning Forward Texas Board of Directors. Applicants must complete an online application which includes a description of their accomplishments including examples of continuous learning. They also must submit artifacts and evidence of how their work influenced staff and students. 


Learning Forward Texas is an educational nonprofit association of learning educators devoted exclusively to those who work in educator professional development. They help members leverage the power of professional learning to affect positive change in our schools and in our world.
