Learning Forward Texas Announces New Board Members for 2023

Roanoke, TX - Learning Forward Texas, a professional learning organization dedicated to improving education in Texas, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new board members: Dr. Becky Odajima, Dr. Rob Thornell, and Dr. Nicole Zwahr.
Dr. Odajima is currently the Assistant Superintendent at Midway ISD, where she oversees curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the district. She has over 20 years of experience in education and has served as a teacher, campus administrator, and district-level administrator. Dr. Odajima has a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Baylor University.
Dr. Thornell is a retired educator who is currently working for NWEA, a nonprofit organization that provides assessments and professional learning to educators. He has over 30 years of experience in education and has served as a teacher, principal, and district-level administrator. Dr. Thornell has a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Baylor University.
Dr. Zwahr is the Director of Professional Learning for Katy ISD, where she oversees the district's professional development programs for teachers and administrators. She has 25 years of experience in education and has served as a teacher, instructional coach, and district-level administrator. Dr. Zwahr has a Doctorate in Education from University of Houston– Clear Lake.
"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Odajima, Dr. Thornell, and Dr. Zwahr to the Learning Forward Texas board," said Vicki Arrington, President of Learning Forward Texas. "Their expertise and experience in education will be invaluable as we work to improve professional learning in Texas."
Learning Forward Texas also announced the new board members will be replacing Anna Jackson and Shelly Crofford, who are completing their terms in June. "We are grateful for Anna and Shelly's service to Learning Forward Texas and their contributions to our mission," said Arrington.
