What's New with LFTX
Learning Forward Academy Scholarship Award Winners
Learning Forward Texas annually provides a scholarship for a member of our Texas affiliate to participate in the Learning Forward Academy. The LFTX board renamed the scholarship, the Terri Iles Academy Scholarship, to honor Terri's years of dedicated service as Executive Director, Board Member, and Consultant. This year due to a generous donation from a retired group of educators, the Star Learners, Learning Forward Texas, can provide a second scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition for the three-year program, which includes face-to-face meetings, virtual coaching, and annual conference participation.
The Terri Iles Academy Scholarship recipient is Jessica Cain, Instructional Technology Specialist in Ferris ISD. In Jessica's application, she stated, "My hope in joining this academy is to develop further the skills needed to help transform what professional learning looks like for educators." The Star Learner Scholarship recipient is Kathryn Laster, a Digital Learning Consultant at Region X Education Service Center. "Participating allows me to invest in my personal growth, connect with educators worldwide, and gain a deeper understanding of the new Learning Forward Standards. I want to be part of the transformation in designing and facilitating professional learning post-pandemic, and the Learning Forward Academy will equip me to be part of that change", said Kathryn in her application.

Applicants applied to the Academy and were accepted after interviews by cohort leaders. The Learning Foward Texas board selected academy scholarships recipient from the accepted applicants based on need and application responses. Congratulations to Jessica and Kathryn, and the other Texas members of the Learning Forward Academy Class of 2025.

Standards for Professional Learning Week 2023
April 2023 marked one year since Learning Forward released revised Standards for Professional Learning. Over the past year, thousands of educators have learned about standards through webinars, networks, and professional learning communities; used standards tools, publications, and Innovation Configuration maps; and shared with us how they are changing their practices as a result. For these reasons, Learning Forward established the last week in April as Standards for Professional Learning Week. Click here to watch the video recordings of the Standards Week webinars.
